Developer set to break ground on 200 apartments, supermarket in Middlesex
Forte Real Estate Development is set to break ground on the newest project in its hometown of Middlesex Borough, a mixed-use property that will include 200 apartments and a new supermarket.
The builder on Thursday said it has secured all necessary permits and financing for construction along Lincoln Boulevard, where it already has two projects. The firm expects to begin its latest development next week, starting with the demolition of a vacant office building on the site.
The new grocery store, a PriceSaver Fresh Marketplace, will bring a supermarket back to Lincoln Boulevard for the first time in many years since a Pathmark closed down. Plans for the store call for a pharmacy, a TrueValue Hardware section and quick-serve and prepared food, Forte said, noting that fresh foods will be sourced from local farms and producers.
The supermarket is expected to open in the first quarter of 2019.
“Our goal has always been to bring a new, exciting and community friendly development to Middlesex,” said Massimo Pinelli, Forte’s president. “This supermarket is a great addition to the development and the town. It will bring jobs and tax revenue to Middlesex and provide a much-needed grocery store to residents on and around Lincoln Boulevard.
“We have responded to the request of the local community and we are eager to deliver on our promise as soon as possible.”
